Tzatziki salad is essentially a refreshing and creamy sauce of cucumbers, garlic and yogurt, which goes well with many roasts, especially gyros and souvlaki. In the traditional Greek version, it also contains olive oil, lemon juice and salt, and sometimes dill, parsley or mint are also added.
Tzatziki salad is prepared quickly and so easily that it would be a shame not to prepare it during the hot summer days when we will feel all its pleasant and beneficial properties the most.
Enjoy!
Tzatziki Salad
Ingredients
- 1 large cucumber (about 250 g)
- 400 g of Greek yogurt
- 2-3 cloves of garlic
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Myrrh and ground white pepper as desired
Instructions
Pour Greek yogurt into a suitable container, then add crushed garlic cloves, olive oil, lemon juice and salt to your taste.
Note: Add allspice and ground white pepper if you like, my family doesn't, and I didn't.
Mix everything and put it in the fridge.
Peel the cucumber (you don't have to), then grate it and mix it into the yogurt mixture.
Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to eat.
Advice: The longer it sits, the grated cucumber will release water and thin out the mass, so I recommend that you make the salad immediately before eating, and that you use yogurt and cucumber from the fridge so that the salad is cold and refreshing.
Notes
Add allspice and ground white pepper if you like, my family doesn't, and I didn't.
